Summary

Fatherhood matters. It matters to God, and it matters to us. So many of us are growing up fatherless, whether it’s because of illness, absence, or attitude. We carry these wounds with us for the rest of our lives, and even if don’t mean to we attach those same feelings to our relationship with our Heavenly Father. But God is not a reflection of our Earthly father, He is the perfection of him. In this kick-off message to our new series, Not Forsaken, Pastor Louie Giglio reminds us of who we are; loved sons and daughters of a perfect father.

Today is April the 28th. It's the day that I remember very well my family does.

Today is the day. 24 years ago, while I was speaking at a conference in Boston,

0:31.2

Massachusetts to a group of youth workers from all over New England, I got a

shifted in my sisters, my family, shellies, and my lives had shifted even

earlier when I was 29 years old. I'd kind of technically lost my dad to disease.

My dad became disabled with a very rare and brain virus that left him almost

1:17.6

overnight, disabled, mentally, emotionally, physically. And so I'd lost my

1:24.1

normal relationship with my dad at 29, but now seven years later, because of a

1:29.5

heart attack, my dad was gone. And I think that a lot of us today are in that zone,

1:36.3

that we've either lost our Father like I had to death, or maybe to some other

1:44.2

disease. Some of you are at that stage of life where your Father's still alive,

1:47.8

but things just aren't the way they were and may never will be. Or maybe you've

1:53.2

lost your dad to something else, maybe dysfunction took your dad out of the

1:57.9

picture, or divorce took your dad out of the picture. Maybe disinterest took your
