| 0:00.0 | Hey everyone it's Leslie Lutie, host of the Set-A-Part girl podcast biblical encouragement for women of all ages. Today we have |
| 0:16.0 | Halloween coming up this week and it really inspired me to take a fresh look at where our culture is at in the area of darkness and death. |
| 0:28.3 | And one thing that I've noticed and you've probably noticed it too is that in the past decade or so, especially in the past five or six years, |
| 0:36.4 | the culture has really escalated in celebrating death and darkness and glorifying things that are evil and really even trying to make and popular and it's really easy for us I think as Christian women to kind of overlook |
| 0:54.9 | that and not take it very seriously but there's a scripture in Proverbs that is |
| 0:59.1 | so interesting to me it's talking about true wisdom and it says those who hate me, meaning the wisdom of |
| 1:06.8 | God, love death. Those who hate God's wisdom love death. And that's what you see when you look around our world today |
| 1:14.2 | there is a love for things that are representative of death you see skulls and |
| 1:19.9 | skeletons everywhere it's not just I mean when I was in high school it used to be just |
| 1:23.8 | like on the t-shirts of kids who were really into heavy metal bands and you know |
| 1:29.2 | road skateboards and had long shaggy here and there was a sort of a subculture of people who loved, you know, skeletons |
| 1:35.4 | and skulls and now it's absolutely everywhere. It's got sparkles on it and it's on scarves and jewelry. |
| 1:42.0 | I even remember a few years ago I bought a pair of swim trunks for one of my boys he was probably three or four years old at the time so they were like little kid toddler swim trunks and I grabbed them off the rack thinking that |
| 1:55.2 | they had a beach scene on them and when I got them home I took a closer look at |
| 1:59.5 | this beach scene was actually in the shape of a skull. And so here is clothing actually made for little |
| 2:06.4 | kids that celebrate darkness and death and you see these little babies wearing skull and |
| 2:11.4 | skeleton t-shirts, you see girls wearing you know sequins |
| 2:15.3 | skulls and skeletons on their purses and bags and there are even aisles that my |
| 2:20.4 | kids and I have to completely avoid in the toy store because the toys in |
| 2:25.4 | those aisles are so demonic and you just walk down the aisle and it's like |
| 2:30.5 | you're assaulted with violence and blood and gore and that's in a toy store |
| 2:35.3 | so that just shows you how far our culture has come in this area of celebrating darkness |
