Today is the 8th day of October. Welcome to the daily audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today as we do what we do gather around the

global campfire together it's there's there's a place for everybody and it is good to be here with you right now as we're in this space together moving forward another step on this grand journey through the Bible, through this year.

And we have worked our way from Genesis in the Old Testament, from Genesis 1 verse 1 all the way into the book of

Jeremiah and Jeremiah of course is a prophet not a bullfrog is a prophet, not a bullfrog, he is a prophet, and one of the major profits in the

scriptures because of the length of material that is contained in the book of

Jeremiah. And Jeremiah Jeremiah I guess probably me I don't know if you're supposed to have favorites and I enjoy reading Jeremiah because he's an authentic voice he's sent by God he's he's

working for 20 years doing this work nobody's's listening. We can hear the frustration and the

panic in his voice. We can also hear the frustration at his job sometimes.

So let's take the next step forward. Today, Jeremiah,

chapters 10 and 11.

Hear what the Lord says to you people of Israel. Hear what the Lord says to you people of Israel.

This is what the Lord says.

Do not learn the ways of the nations

or be terrified by signs in the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them.

For the practices of the peoples are worthless.

They cut a tree out of the forest and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

They adorn it with silver and gold.

They fasten it with hammer and nails, so it will not totter.

Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field, their idols cannot speak.

They must be carried because they cannot walk.

Do not fear them.

They can do no harm, nor can they do any good.
