Today is the 18th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian, it is wonderful.

To be here with you today, it's great to gather here around the global campfire. And just

be cozy and safe and allow the scriptures to come into our lives as we open our hearts

to them. What a wonderful thing that we get to do every day.

So glad that we could be together. And let's dive in and take that next step forward. And of

course, that next step begins where we left off. And that happens to be in the book of first

Samuel right now, where we are continuing to watch the intertwining of King Saul's life with

David's life. Saul wants David dead. And that is intertwining their lives because David doesn't

want to be dead. And so he's on the run and having to grow up really fast. And we see sharp

contrasts between these two men. And so let's pick up the story. First Samuel chapters 22 and 23

today. So David departed from there and escaped to the cave at Adulum. When his brothers and his

fathers entire household heard about it, they went down to join him there. Everyone who was in

distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered around him and he

became their commander. There were about 400 men with him. David went from there to Midspa

in Moab. And he said to the King of Moab, please let my father and mother come and stay with you

until I find out what God will do for me. So we brought them to the King of Moab and they

stayed with him the whole time that David was in the stronghold. The prophet Gad said to David,

do not stay in the stronghold, leave and go to the land of Judah. So David left and went to the

forest of Arat. Saul heard that David and the men with him had been located.

Saul was sitting under the tamarisk tree on an elevated location in Gibbia.

Yet his spear in his hand and all his attendants were standing around him.

Saul said to his attendants who were standing around him, listen, you Benjaminites.
