Today is the 12th day of June.

I'm Brian.

It is wonderful to be here with you today as we gather around the global campfire together.

Oh, and I express gratitude.

So good to be here with you today.

As we gather, as we come back together from another day that has passed us by.

And here we are in this new day.

And every day we take a step forward, continuing the grand voyage, the adventure of a lifetime through the Bible.

So in First Kings, which is where we are in the Old Testament, we are kind of reaching this apex, this pinnacle of ancient Israel's culture and society.

The temple has been built.

It has been dedicated.

And we are traveling along and learning about the reign of King Solomon.

Today, 1st Kings chapters 9 and 10.

The Lord's temple in Solomon's palace were now finished and Solomon had built everything he wanted.

Sometime later the Lord appeared to him again in a dream, just as he had done at Gibbon.

The Lord said,

I heard your prayer and what you asked me to do.

This temple you have built is where I will be worshipped forever.

It belongs to me, and I will never stop watching over it. You must obey me,

as your Father David did, and be honest and fair. Obey my laws and teachings, and I will keep

my promise to David that someone from your family will always be King of Israel.
