Today is the 9th day of June. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today.

As we lock arms and hearts and greet a brand new shiny

sparkly week out in front of us again. Mercies that are new every morning leading us forward and the reset of another week and

another decision to live into its completely and fully engaged with the scriptures.

And so let's do that.

This week we're going to read from the Christian Standard Bible.

Obviously we're going to pick up where we left off

and that leads us back into First Kings.

And we're just a couple of days into First Kings.

So we're transitioning into Solomon's reign. of where we are right now. And so let's move forward. First Kings, chapters five and six.

King Hiram of Tyre sent his emissaries to Solomon when he heard that he had been anointed King in his father's place, for Hiram had always been friends with David.

Solomon sent this message to Hiram.

You know, my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of the Lord his God. This was because of the warfare all around

him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet. The Lord my God has now given me rest on every side.

There is no enemy or misfortune.

So I plan to build a temple for the name of the Lord My God,

according to what the Lord promised my Father David, I will put your son on your throne

in your place and he will build the temple for my name.

Therefore command that Cedars from Lebanon be cut down for me.

My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants wages according to whatever

you say.

For you know that not a man among us knows how to cut timber like the Sedonians."
