As we take the next step forward on our adventure together through the Scriptures this year.

And obviously we will pick up where we left off. And that leaves us back into the book of Second Samuel.

And we're wrapping things up. We're learning of all of the elite warriors that were around David in some of the details of the end of David's life.

We will finish the book of Second Samuel today.

So let's dive in Second Samuel chapter 23 verse 24 through 24 verse 25.

Among the thirty were a sale the brother of Joab, Eleanor son of Dodo from Bethlehem, Shama the horridite, Alica the horridite, Elez the Palatite, Ira son of Ekesh from Tokoa, Abiezer from Anatth, Sbikai the Hushite, Salman the Aoeites, Maharae the Nithofite,

Helaed son of Bayana the Nithofite, Itai son of Rabbi from Gibbiyah in Benjamin, Beniah the Period of the Night, Itai from the ravines of Gheash, Abie Elban the Arbitite, As Mavith the Barumite,

Alayaba the Shail the Night, The sons of Jation, Jonathan son of Shama the horridite, Ahayem son of Sharar the horridite,

Eliflet son of Hashbai the Meaketite, Alayem son of Hithofel the Gillenite, Headthro the Carmelites, Pari the Arbit,

Egaal son of Nathan from Zoba, the son of Hagri, Zilek the Ammonites, Naharae the Beirah Tite, the Armor Bearer of Joab son of Ziraya,

Ira the Ithrites, Gareb the Ithrites and Jiraya the Hittites, there were 37 in all,

again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel and the incited David against them saying,

go and take a census of Israel in Judah.

So the King said to Joab and the army commanders with him,

go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beir Shiba and enroll the fighting men

so that I may know how many there are.

But Joab replied to the King, may the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over,

and may the eyes of my Lord the King see it, but why does my Lord the King want to do such a thing?

The King's word however overruled Joab and the army commanders,

so they left the presence of the King to enroll the fighting men of Israel.
