It's great to be here with you.

We got a brand new shiny sparkling week.

First full week of the month.

Brand new month, brand new week.

Let's just recognize and be grateful for the newness that we have as we move forward into this six month of the year.

We're obviously going to be picking up where we left off. We'll read from the new

international version this week and we're moving back into the story of David and his family and just the terrible loss that happened after Bathsheba.

So David has gone through a coup attempt. His son Absalom tried to overthrow the throne and kill his father.

Absalom was unsuccessful and has died.

David is grieved in his mourning.

He's a bit of a mess, but after this upheaval there's political upheaval in the land because

Absalom was declaring himself king and a lot of people had thrown their allegiance to the king

and so the king is dead.

It was a former king, his name was David.

Should he be brought back to be king again?

Like what should happen now?

And that's where we are

2. Samuel chapter 19 verse 11 through 20 verse 13 King David sent this message to Zadoc and Abiyathar the priests.

Ask the elders of Judah. why should you be the last to bring the king back to his palace,
