It is really wonderful to have this opportunity to be together again.

What a joy that we have like an opportunity every day to gather here in a little place

that we create for each other every day that we lovingly call the global campfire. I'm grateful

to be here with you today, taking another step forward on a grand adventure of a lifetime through the Bible

and through a year together. So we are continuing our journey through the book of Second

Chronicles and the stories of the kings of ancient Israel.

Today, Second Chronicles chapter 21, 22, and 23.

Then Jehoffat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David.

And Jehoram, his son succeeded him as king.

Jehoram's brothers, the sons of Jehochefort, were Azariah, Jehahe, Zechariah, Azariah,

Michael, and Sheffetaya.

All these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and articles of value

as well as fortified cities in Judah,

but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his first-born son.

When Jehoram established himself firmly over his father's kingdom, he put all his brothers

to the sword along with some of the officials of Israel.

Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

He followed the ways of the kings of Israel as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab.
