Today is the 15th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you. I am

deeply grateful to be here in the center of this seventh month with you. I am grateful that you've shown up. I'm grateful

that I have. I'm grateful that we all have. That we've shown up for each other and that we've

shown up for our own hearts and our own journey of faith.

Grateful to be here.

I'm delighted that we can take another step forward and then we get to do that every day.

And so let's do it.

We are working our way in the New Testament through Paul's letter to the Romans,

which is profound in the Old Testament today, First Chronicles,

chapters 19, 20, and his son succeeded him.

David said, I will deal loyally with Hanun, son of Nehash, for his father dealt loyally with me.

So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father.

When David's servants came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites to console him,

the officials of the Ammonites said to Hanun, do you think, because David has sent consolers to you,

that he is honoring your father?

Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?

So Hanun seized David's servants,

shaved them, cut off their garments in the middle of their waists, and sent them

away, and they departed. When David was told about the men, he sent messengers to them, for they

felt greatly humiliated. The king said, remain at Jericho until your beards have grown and then return when the Ammonites saw

that they had made themselves odious to David. Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of
