It is wonderful to be here with you today as we close another of the weeks that we get to spend together down and release it into history, as that's all we can do.

It becomes a part of the past.

We continue to go forward.

I am grateful today to be going forward with you into some new territory at this point.

We finished the book of Second Kings yesterday.

And so that brings us to the book of First Chronicles,

which probably makes it obvious that there's a second

chronicles. So there's first and second chronicles that we're going into now. And we're

not exactly sure who the authors or author or collector, curator of these chronicles are, there is Jewish tradition

that suggests that the scribe and priest Ezra, who is found in the Bible, was involved.

That's not sure,

and there's not total consensus among biblical scholars.

But these books were

penned probably about four and a half centuries

before Jesus,

which would make them contemporary with Ezra.

We'll probably notice and recognize the stories

as we go through First and Second Chronicles

because in a lot of ways,
