Today is the 21st day of January. Welcome to the Global Campfire. Welcome back to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you today. Very grateful to be here with you today as we continue the grand voyage through the book of Genesis.

And, man, we're locking in on this story of Joseph at this point.

So Joseph is the great grandson of Abraham.

That's the kind of ground we've been covering.

We went through creation, the flood, all kinds of things, and then we hit Abraham, who became Abraham, and that's where the story slows down, because that's where the story of

the children of Israel begin, and that is the story of the rest of the Bible. So there was Abraham,

then there was Isaac, then there was Jacob,

and all of Jacob's kids, and Joseph is one of them. And we're in that story now.

Genesis chapter 42, verse 18, to 43, Verse 34.

Three days later, Joseph told them,

I fear God, so do this and you'll live.

If you're honest, man, leave one of your brothers here in custody,

then the rest of you can leave and take some grain with you to alleviate the famine that's affecting your households.

Just be sure to bring your youngest brother back to me,

so what you've claimed can be verified. That way you won't die.

We're all guilty because of what we did to our brother, they told each other. We kept on watching his suffering while he pleaded with us.

We're in this mess because we wouldn't listen.

Didn't I tell you, Rubin replied. Don't wrong the kid, I said, but you wouldn't listen.

No.

Now it's payback time.

Meanwhile, they had no idea that Joseph could understand them since he was talking to them

through an interpreter.
