Today is the 19th day of January. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It's going to

be here with you today as we continue this journey forward. We have ourselves in our third week and we're

taking our 19th step. They add up pretty quick. Seems like we're still just getting going and we are, but they add up pretty quick.

As we gather here and show up for each other every day around the global campfire.

And so let's dig in and take this next step forward.

We have just begun learning about one of Israel's sons

or the sons of Jacob, his name is Joseph, and we met him kind of as a young

young man.

His brothers are jealous of him and they've trafficked him into slavery in Egypt.

So we'll pick up the story as Joseph starts his career as a slave.

Genesis chapter 39 verse 1 through 41 verse 16.

Now Joseph had been taken to Egypt, an Egyptian named Potifer, an officer of Pharaoh and the captain of the guards bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man serving in the household of his Egyptian master.

When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the lord made everything he did successful,

Joseph found favor with his master and became his personal attendant.

Potipher also put him in charge of his household and placed all that he owned under his authority.

From the time that he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord

blessed the Egyptian's house because of Joseph. The Lord's blessing was on all that he owned in his house and in his fields.

He left all that he owned under Joseph's authority. He did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.

Now Joseph was well built and handsome.

After some time his master's wife looked longingly at Joseph and said,

sleep with me.

But he refused.
