I'm Brian, it's great to be here with you today

as we gather at this brand new shiny sparkly week around this beautiful glowing

global campfire you all look so. It's wonderful to be together. To greet a fresh

beginning? It's a new week, so let's choose well. Let's choose well out in front of it right now. It's not ruined yet.

Let's keep it that way and let's continue our journey through the scriptures.

Once again, we're out in the wilderness with Moses who is at the top of Mount Sinai receiving what we're reading.

This is going to become the mosaic law, the law that will tie the people together, knit them together, make the fabric of their society.

And so this is part of how they move from an identity of slavery to that of chosen people a nation of priests

to reveal God to the world.

This week we'll read from the contemporary English version and picking up where we left

off yesterday Exodus chapter 32 and 33.

After the people saw that Moses had been on the mountain for a long time, they went to Aaron and said,

Make us an image of a god who will lead us and protect us.

Moses brought us out of Egypt, but nobody knows what has happened to him.

Aaron told him, bring me the gold earrings that your wives and sons and daughters are

wearing.

Everybody took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.

Then he melted them and made an idol in the shape of a

young bull. All the people said to one another,

this is the God who brought us out of Egypt.
