It's great to be here with you today.

It's great to be here at all.

It's great that the global campfire exists.

And we can all be around it as we take another step forward on the journey

and wow we are getting to this midway these midway days of the month so like getting to the

midpoint of the final month of the year and we are moving through a lot of territory fairly rapidly, as we've been talking about.

Today won't be different.

We're going to read an entire book in the Old Testament.

Moving through the minor prophets as we move toward the end.

And so we'll read the full book of Obadiah today.

Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament.

And even though Obadiah is identified as the author,

very little is known about him.

Other than his name means servant of Yahweh,

but Obadiah wasn't an uncommon name.

So like dating this prophecy becomes difficult.

Generally, I mean, with scholarship on any topic, there's like all kinds of diversion, but generally,

if there's consensus among scholars, Obadiah is probably contemporary with Jeremiah, and this

prophetic work uses Babylon's conquest of Jerusalem
