I am grateful to be here with you today.

Every single day I am grateful to be here with you.

Every day that God lets us be here together is a good thing, so I'm grateful to be here with you. Every day that God lets us be here together is a good thing.

So I'm grateful that we can continue the journey that we are on.

We have reached a bit of a day of transition.

We're going to be moving from one place, kind of to another story.

We're going to move from the book of judges down into one story that happens at that time.

So we'll kind of unpack that all as it happens.

But we're going to finish the book of judges today and begin the book of Ruth.

So first, Judges, Chapter 21.

When the Israelites had gathered at Mitzpah, they had made a solemn promise to the Lord.

None of us will allow a Benjaminite to marry a daughter of ours.

So now the people of Israel went to Bethel and sat there in the presence of God until evening.

Loudly and bitterly they mourned, Lord God of Israel, why has this happened?

Why is the tribe of Benjamin about to disappear from Israel?

Early the next morning the people got up and built an altar there. They offered fellowship sacrifices and burned some sacrifices whole. They asked,

is there any group out of all the tribes of Israel that did not go to the gathering in the Lord's

presence at Mitzpah.

They had taken a solemn oath that anyone who had not gone to Mitzpah would be put to death.
