the scriptures. Grateful to be here with you today, grateful for the territory that we're in.

Some really big lessons in 1st Samuel as we get to know King Saul, Israel's first king, and get to know a little bit

about character and motivation and what drives us. God is rejecting Saul, and we will continue to

watch things kind of spiral in his life as we continue to move

forward examining our own. First Samuel, chapters 15 and 16 today.

Samuel said to Saul The Lord sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel.

Now therefore listen to the voice of the words of the Lord.

Thus, says the Lord of hosts,

I remember what Amalek did to Israel, how he laid weight for him in the way when he came up from Egypt.

Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all they have, and do not have compassion on them, but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

So Saul summoned the people together and numbered them into layam.

200,000 foot soldiers and 10,000 men of Jews, summoned the people together and numbered them into layam two hundred thousand

foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Judah and Saul came to the city of Amalek and

laid an ambush in the valley Saul said to the Kinites go depart go down from

among the Amalekites lest I destroy you with them, for you showed

kindness to all the children of Israel when they came up out of Egypt.

So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

Then Saul struck the Amalekites from Havela until you come to shore, which is near Egypt.

He took Agag, the king of the Amalekites, alive and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, oxen, fatlings, and lambs.

And of all that was good, they were not willing to utterly destroy them.
