Grateful for each and every opportunity to sneak away here into this

oasis around the global campfire and take the next step forward.

And that leads us into First Samuel, where we are learning

of the first king of Israel

and how it is that the children of Israel

move from like the prophetic leader

or to a judge

into actually having a king

and a government established

as a monarchy.

Today, 1 Samuel, Chapter 14

A day came, the Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man that bore his armor,

Come, and let us cross over to the Philistine garrison, which is on the other side.

But he did not tell his father.

Now Saul was staying on the outskirts of Gibbya under the pomegranate tree, which is in Migron.

And the people that were with him were about 600 men.

And Ahijah, the son of Ahaitub, Iqabad's brother, the son of Phineas, the son of Eli,

the priest of the Lord in Shiloh, was wearing the Ephod, but the people did not know that Jonathan

had gone.
