Great to be here with you today around the global campfire, moving our way through the middle,

the middle week, the middle days of this month, it's warming up.

The rolling hills of Tennessee, I mean, it is a very, very lush, green place,

and that's how it looks this time of year.

It'll keep getting hot and hot and hot until everything gets gorged,

but it's lush and green now.

I hope it's life-giving and beautiful wherever you are.

No matter where you are, it is lush and beautiful and safe here around the global campfire.

As we gather for our next step forward which puts us back

into the book of first samuel where this significant transition is taking place between the time

of the judges and the time of the kings.

And we have King Saul now as Israel's first king.

And then soon enough we'll need to say goodbye to Samuel. Today, 1 Samuel chapters 12 and 13 Then Samuel said to all Israel, I have listened to your voice and all that you said to me

and have made a king over you.

And now see, the king walks before you but I am old and gray-headed as for my sons they are with you but I have walked before you

from my childhood to this day behold Behold here I am.

Witness against me before the Lord and before his anointed.

Whose ox have I taken?

Or whose donkey have I taken?
