Today is the 16th day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is wonderful to be here with you today, just like it is every day.

Because the global campfire is burning and we all have a place and we've all come for the same reason to take the next step forward together.

And so let's do that. We're working our way through the book of Nehemiah. In the Old Testament, we'll actually conclude Nehemiah tomorrow.

But that's tomorrow and this is today, so we've got another couple steps forward in Nehemiah.

Today, Chapter 11, verse 1 through 12, 26.

So the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem while the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to settle in Jerusalem, the holy city.

While the other nine remained in other cities, the people gave their blessing on all the men who volunteered to settle in Jerusalem.

These are the provincial leaders who settled in Jerusalem. While other Israelites, the priests, the Levites, the temple attendants, and the sons of the servants of Solomon settled in the cities of Judah, each on his own property in their cities.

Some of the descendants of Judah and some of the descendants of Benjamin settled in Jerusalem.

Of the descendants of Judah, Ataya, son of Uzaya, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amaraya, the son of Sheffataya, the son of Mahalalal, from the descendants of Perez.

And Meassia, son of Baruch, the son of Col Oze, the son of Hatsia, the son of Adaya, the son of Joyarib, the son of Zechariah, from the descendants of Sheila.

The sum total of the descendants of Perez, who were settling in Jerusalem, was 468 exceptional men.

These are the descendants of Benjamin.

Salud, son of Mashulam, the son of Joed, the son of Padaya, the son of Kulaya, the son of Meassia, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jechariah, and his followers, Gabai and Salai, 928 in all.

Joel, son of Zikri, was the officer in charge of them.

And Judah, son of Hassanua, was second in command over the city.

From the priests, Jadaya, son of Joyarib, Jakin, Suraya, son of Hylkia, the son of Mashulam, the son of Zedok, the son of Mareha, the son of a Hytube, Supervisor in the Temple of God.

And their colleagues, who were carrying out work for the Temple.

822, and a Daya, son of Jeroam, the son of Palalaya, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Melkajah, and his colleagues, who were heads of families.

242, and Amashai, son of Azaro, the son of Azay, the son of Mashulamode, the son of Emer, and his colleagues, who were exceptional men.

128, the officer over them was Zabdiel, son of Haggadolam.

From the Levites, Shamaya, son of Ashub, the son of Ezraikim, the son of Hashabaya, the son of Boone,
