I'm Brian. It is great to be here with you today.

How are you? I'm kind of locked and loaded, a little hopped up on on coffee, drinking some

coffee like I do. It's an early morning. So, how are you today? It's great to be here with you today kind of

turning the page we're moving into some new territory really actually quite different

territory as we continue our journey through the Bible.

We concluded the book of Joshua yesterday and so we're moving into new territory and

our next step forward leads us into the book of

judges and by its name we can assume that it's a book of judgment and there's

plenty of bad things that happen in the

book of judges some of the most terrifying stories or disturbing stories

who be found in the book of judges but that's not the purpose and that's not why it's named that way.

So let's look back for a second. We know the children of Israel.

We met Abraham,

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Jacob's name was changed to Israel.

His children became known as the children of Israel.

From those children came the tribes of Israel

and those were the tribes that were freed from slavery in Egypt under Moses.

We spent a whole generation in the wilderness with these people before

finally crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land as we went into the book of Joshua, now the land is settled.
