Welcome to another edition of Rapid Fire, the roundtable discussion of all things gaming coming at you at the speed of a galloping spectral horseman with no head. Tonight's edition is brought to you by Mortals, Inc. Dorset Street, Dublin. Remember our motto? We're cheaper than G.W. I'm Geekly Magnetigan, your host. Today, as always, our panelists are Russ. How many guns can one man carry Wakeland? And Rafe. Reading rules only happens to other people, Granger. Let's begin. Issue number one. |
| 1:15.1 | Of all the bad guys we see in our movies, TV shows, books, and such, |
| 1:17.0 | the oldies are definitely the goodies. |
| 1:20.0 | The best villains are always the archetypal evil creatures of the night that have haunted our collective unconscious for hundreds of years. |
| 1:23.3 | In the game, a touch of evil, these terrible minions of the dark side are attacking |
| 1:26.6 | the quiet town of Shadowbrook. The game includes for such, including a vampire and a werewolf. The plethora of such evil creatures, however, means an infinite variety of expansions as possible. Question. Who would be the best archetypal bad guy to add to the panoply of evil currently besieging Shadowbrook? Rafe, the chupacobb's screaming, grab you? A lich. Rust the blob and be a knob and hit you in the gob. A giant plant man. Wrong! No gothic horror game would be complete without La Belle Dame sounds merci. Your playing piece would fall in love on a three plus. Get lucky on a one to three and fade out of the game completely on a six. |
| 2:02.2 | Issue number two. |
| 2:05.1 | Cooperation is an interesting element of everyday life. |
| 2:10.1 | Quite often, we might come into a situation where we must cooperate with people who we do not get along with. |
| 2:13.3 | And yet, without working together, our every effort might fail. |
| 2:16.5 | In games, this mechanic is becoming more and more prevalent, with games like Shadows over Camelot and Battlesaw Galactic confounding the cooperative element by adding confusion of a traitor in the midst. Question, is this a positive trend in gaming? Defend your answer. Russ, I'd rather fight than spare the flight. I think it's positive. Ray, a friend in need is a pain indeed. I like to do the co-op where there's no human on the other side. Interesting, obviously, however. Wrong! We spend all day having to cooperate with slow and dullest, least interesting people on the planet. When we're playing games, we'd like to just kill things and beat people. If you can't stab a friend in the back or laugh at their misfortune, where's the fun in that? |
