On the evening of 7 March 2014, police dispatchers in Dallas, Texas received a call from the grandmother of a 24-year-old woman that had only been missing for a couple of hours, but had gone missing under extremely distressing circumstances. Just hours beforehand, her family had received an unintentional call from her in which it sounded like she was being physically abused. By all indications, she'd been fighting for her life.

What they received, however, was a frustrating response that ultimately led to an overhaul in how certain 9-1-1 calls are handled in the state of Texas...
