Summary

When Joseph Smith dedicated the Kirtland Temple, he said the first word that came to his mind was "Thanks". But why? He and the Saints had built the temple through "great tribulation" and "out of our poverty". This act of faith, however, was about to unlock a cascade of blessings that would change the world forever. Summary: Join us as we dive deep into the dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland Temple (D&C 109) and the incredible heavenly visitations that followed (D&C 110). This isn't just a historical event; it's a blueprint for spiritual growth and power in our own lives. In this video, we'll explore: How the temple is a place of God's holiness, where all who enter can "feel thy power" and "grow up in thee." The incredible promise of being "restored to the blessings" when we "speedily repent and return" to the Lord. What it means to be "clothed upon with robes of righteousness" and "armed with thy power" as we go forth to share the gospel. The profound moment when the Lord appeared and manifested Himself "in mercy." The powerful restoration of the "keys of this dispensation" by Moses, Elias, and Elijah, which unlocked the gathering of Israel, the Gospel of Abraham, and the sealing power. The Kirtland Temple dedication was just "the beginning of the blessing". Discover how these restored keys and blessings continue to roll forth "in great power and majesty" to fill the whole earth. Call-to-Action: What does "armed with thy power" mean to you personally? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Hello, my friends, and welcome back. Today we get to go on a temple tour.

And I, for one, am excited about it. Now, it's not going to take forever because there's only one temple to tour, and that's the Curtland Temple.

We are in 1836. The first temple of this dispensation has just been built, and we are now ready for its dedication.

That's Section 109, the dedicatory prayer, where Joseph Smith

0:22.6

actually received this prayer by way of revelation. So in some ways, we're back to our childhood

0:27.0

where our parents are whispering in our ear what we should be praying for. In this case,

0:31.7

it's the Lord whispering in Joseph's ear. This is how you dedicate a temple. Here's what you should, here's some blessings you should

0:37.8

ask me for. And in some ways it's just a masterpiece. Now as one who loves scripture and one

0:44.6

who really loves architecture, this is quite the combination of places. 109 will be the prayer.

110 is its aftermath. There's one week between the two. March 27th, 1836, the temple is

0:58.3

dedicated, and then one week later, Easter time and Passover time, April 3rd, 1836, some heavenly

1:06.3

manifestations take place, and those are all recorded in section 110. So just two revelations, or two sections today, but talk about going hand in hand.

1:15.4

In some ways, we're asking for blessings in 109, and those blessings are coming in 110,

1:21.7

in ways far beyond anything that probably even Joseph Smith imagined.

Now, if you're anything like me, you thrill every six

months at President Nelson's announcements of new temples being constructed. When I was young, it was

1:35.1

President Hinckley. And he seemed to be breaking all of Spencer W. Kimball's records. And now it's

1:39.9

President Nelson's turn to break all of President Hinckley's. We are dotting the earth with these houses of the Lord.

And to think about, could the saints have had any idea, the pace at which we are building

temples today, when it took so much time and effort and sacrifice to be able to build

1:57.9

the very first one?

1:59.4

I think it's interesting. Four years ago, we taught these revelations,
