Summary

What do you do when you do everything you're asked, and it all falls apart? This is the powerful and often misunderstood story of Zion's Camp, and it teaches us timeless lessons about faith, finances, and preparing a people for Zion. Summary: In this episode, we dive into four pivotal sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. We begin with the organization of the Kirtland High Council in D&C 102, which provides a divine pattern for resolving "important difficulties" through "counsel in council" and seeking the Lord's mind. Next, we explore the call to organize Zion's Camp in D&C 103, where the Lord promises that "after much tribulation come the blessings". This journey of hardship and faith culminates in a surprising twist: the Lord disbands the camp, revealing a much deeper purpose. This leads us to the heart of the lesson in D&C 105. The Lord explains that the redemption of Zion had to be postponed because His people "have not learned to be obedient" and "are not united". He teaches that they must be "chastened until they learn obedience". This trial was a necessary preparation, designed to teach them "more perfectly" and to receive a promised "great endowment" of power. Finally, we discuss the Lord's counsel on welfare and finances in D&C 104. The Lord declares that it is His "purpose to provide for my saints," but it must be done "in mine own way". He reveals that "the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare," and that all who have abundance are merely stewards of His property. We also learn a powerful financial principle: to "pay all your debts" through "diligence and humility and the prayer of faith". This lesson reveals that becoming a Zion people is a process of sanctification—learning obedience and unity so we can lift up an ensign of peace and become worthy of the blessings promised. 0:22.5	Several of you stayed with me for three hours straight. Of course, if you're used to unshaken,
0:26.4	I guess you're used to that. But just having good classes together, studying, talking with many
0:31.8	of you in between classes and afterwards was just a treat. So thank you. Now, today we are back in the Doctrine
0:38.1	Covenants. We're going to be covering section 102 through 105. And in some ways, this is an issue
0:43.4	of odds versus evans. Okay. 102 and 104, the focus is Curtland. And then 103, 105,
0:51.5	the focus is Missouri. Remember, we got two church headquarters,
0:56.0	and things are going pretty well in one
0:59.0	and horribly wrong in the other.
1:01.0	Kurtland, we're barreling towards the construction of the temple.
1:05.0	Missouri, we are being driven out of Jackson County,
1:08.0	and what are we going to do with all of that? And so we're going to see some
1:12.2	kind of hometown challenges and issues that are taking place in Kirtland. Section 102 is the
1:19.6	organization of a high council there in Kirtland. Don't worry, it's more exciting than it sounds.
1:24.6	And then 104 is the United Firm, which later becomes called the United Order.
1:30.7	There's some shuffling and rearranging of stewardship and things like that. How do we do this
1:35.0	moving forward if we're trying to consecrate? That's 104. And then 103 and 105, together with
1:41.5	101 that we studied last week are the Zion's Camp revelations.
