This is Matt Lynch.

If you've ever been to the land of Israel

and you've toured around the land with someone who knows it intimately,

someone who lives and breathes the material cultural and ancient world of the Bible,

you know that that's an experience from which you can never really go back.

You can't think about the Bible the same way anymore.

And today's guest is someone who spent a good deal of time in the land of Israel,

knows the material cultural world of the Old Testament,

and thinks really hard about the relationship between Bible and archaeology.

And for some of us who work primarily with texts,

it can be really helpful to attend to the findings of archaeologists. And I think it's really

exciting to do that. So that's what we're going to do today. And I hope you get a feel for some,

you know, some of the value of hearing from archaeologists who think about the Bible in this episode.
