This is Join Us in France, episode 52.

Hello, I'm Annie, and I noticed in the last couple of days

that the Join Us in France Travel Podcast is a year old and it crept up on me and I didn't even think about it until just now.

So, whooo, I guess I could indulge in a little reflection on the past year past year, but I'm going to keep it short.

It's a new year, it's a new season, and a new direction for the show, and it's all good and all exciting.

I know some of you are wondering about Elise and I'll talk about it some more at the

end of the show but don't worry Elise is fine and I hope she come back on the show as soon as her

schedule permits. Today I'm very happy to introduce Marion Cleanier who is a great

cyclist. Now before you start wondering why is she interviewing a cyclist? Well she's

going to give us a lot of wonderful tips for people who want to come visit

France on a bicycle or do a sports vacation and there are a ton of people who do this.

So Marion is a great cyclist, an athlete.

She has a lot of medals to her name,

and I'll just name a few, just to wet her appetite.

She has silver medals in track cycling at the Olympics in

1996 and 2000. She has five gold medals at world championships in track cycling, but she's also got medals in road cycling, a world record,

and she was awarded a National Medal of Honor in France, which not very many people have.

So she is truly an outstanding human being and she's very

modest about it all and isn't that how it works you know the the higher achievers who

win all the serious events they brush it off like yeah it was

nothing but then if I win a I don't know a bowling game you'll never hear the end of it so

...
