Disruption. Nothing personal word of the day. It is the final day of the eighth month of 2022.

The year is two-thirds over. Start in September, heading into fall, heading into Labor Day. Disruption. My summer plans have been disrupted.

My baseball team is disrupted by unruly fans. I don't know why disruption is ever used to describe an injury.

Yesterday Justin Verlander, the Psy Young Award winning Tommy John recovering Kate Upton Husbanding,

pitcher for the Houston garbage can banging Astros has a facial disruption.

Breaking news. Put your jacket on David. He got to talk about it. This is what I want to mention on nothing personal.

I will analyze what it means for Justin Verlander to be heard. But on nothing personal, we can talk about facial disruption.

Not that. Because you could have fiber disruption, you could have muscle disruption, you could have intestinal disruption. Fiber is always helpful for that.

He heard his calf. We always like to use words in baseball. I like that. Big words. Makes us sound smart and important when we get stuff back from the doctor and we try to dumb it down for a press release.

But every once in a while, just for S's and G's, we'll put in a very technical word for something. There's no apparent reason why.

So Justin Verlander meets the media and he said it was going to be a matter of weeks. I wouldn't be able to do a thing if there had been fibers involved.

Like not just disrupted, but somehow involved. Justin Verlander is not a doctor, but what he was told is that you've got to rest.

We've got to wait until your calf doesn't hurt because when your calf hurts, as you know, from the show, we don't let pictures pitch you have any lower body injuries because it will change their mechanics, which has a chance to hurt their arms.

And Justin Verlander, he's hanging on by a threat of a league. And he's 39 years old. And they're going to resign him. So therefore you rest.

They've got a four game lead over the Yankees for best record in the American League. They've already won the their division. I just paused. You know why? How well do you know me folks?

Because I blanked and you know we do the show live. I said they've got a hugely they've already won and I just blanked. It's AL West obviously, but I blanked and I just delayed long enough to remember that the asses are in the AL West. That's what I just did.

True that he acknowledged that if it were a worse injury, he would have been out for the season and the playoffs. The problem with August 31st is that when my phone would ring.

And it was the trainer or the GM about an injury.

You're talking about injuries where players are out for the season. If that happens in May, you say they're out four to six weeks. If it happens now four to six weeks, that's it. See in the playoffs. If you're not a playoff team, we're going to shut you down.

Right now when you're a team that is out of the playoff race, you are being very conservative. If you have a player who is any part of your history, who has any sort of nagging injury, we start the discussions on August 31st about shutting that player down.

And it's a money discussion really because starting tomorrow, Major League Baseball teams can call up even more players. There's something called the expanded roster in September. It's not like the old days, we could call up 20 guys. There's a maximum number of players.
