Okay, today's topic is something so common you might think it's boring.

But surprise, it's secretly awesome.

The material that builds houses, ships, pencils, baseball bats, violins, tables, chairs, doors, bookshelves,

and probably the floor you're on right now.

Wood is one of the oldest materials humans have ever used, and we're still using it thousands of years later, even though we've

invented plastic, metal, concrete, and things that go beep for no reason. We're going to talk about

where wood comes from, why it's so strong, how it grows, how people use it, why different woods

look different, and how trees are basically

nature's 3D printers. Also, we will absolutely talk about knocking on wood and why people do that.
