Hello and welcome back to the Curious Kid podcast. Before we discuss this week's topic, we have some news for you.

We have something special plans after episode 25. We sure do. Our first season will end after episode 25,

which will be released four weeks from today on March 24th.

But after that, we are going to have a Curious Kid podcast giveaway.

That's right, but that's not all.

I'm so excited to tell you that we're going to be back to season two right after that.

This week we're getting curious about mirrors. Mirrors are pretty amazing. I think we can take them for granted and don't really stop to think about how incredible they are.

I remember the first time you discovered mirrors.

We were taking a family vacation in Pittsburgh, and our hotel room had a sliding closet

door that was also a mirror.

You were obsessed.

It was a delight to watch you enjoy the wonders of the amazing mirror.

Recording the superstition, what happens after you break a mirror? Nice. So let's start by reflecting on how mirrors work. See what I did there?

You made a dad joke. Sure did. Okay. When light hits an object, one of three things will happen. It can pass through.

That happens when it's transparent like glass. It can also sink in and get absorbed.

That happens when an object is dark, like an apple. The third thing it can do is it can reflect back.

That happens when it's white and shiny like still water.

Most objects do a combination of these things, but mirrors only reflect light back,

which is why they work the way they do.
