In Appalachia, there was a man that the locals referred to as Elias Crow.

He lived alone deep in the hills, only coming down to town occasionally to sell cured furs and

gather basic supplies, and on these trips he spoke very little, usually muttering incomprehensibly

or grunting as he walked through

the streets. Most townspeople, they just avoided him entirely, treating him as unpredictable,

though the owner of the hardware store had a neutral relationship due to the consistent

quality of the furs that he sold. Red Hollow was a small mining and logging

community here, quiet except for the occasional discussion of neighbours' affairs. And when Crow came

into town, his presence sparked conversation all the time, and every visit renewed speculation

about his solitary life. One winter evening, the hardware store

owner noted that Crow hadn't appeared in town for weeks. A few of the regulars suggested that

they should investigate the man's residence to see if the room has held any weight. The following

morning, a small group set out on foot, led by the store owner.
