Biden's son of President Joe Biden has been found guilty on all charges related to him

lying on paperwork and owning a gun while addicted to drugs.

Thely Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips has more.

The verdict was reached after roughly three hours of deliberations over two days.

The conviction could land the first son in prison for up to 25 years, though given his lack of prior offenses,

a shorter sentence or probation is more likely. Over the course of the trial, we heard emotional testimony

from several members of the Biden family and in our circle, including his daughter and sister-in-law-turned-girlfriend.

Prosecutors built their case around proving that Hunter lied on a federal firearm form in 2018

when he claimed that he was not addicted to any drugs at the time of the purchase.

Here's Special Counsel David Weiss after the verdict was announced.

No one in this country is above the law. Everyone must be accountable for their actions, even this defendant.

However, Hunter Biden should be no more accountable than any other citizen convicted of this same conduct.

The prosecution has been and will continue to be committed to this principle

and to the principles of federal prosecution and carrying out its responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the defense did not dispute Biden's well documented history of drug abuse,

but instead attempted to prove that he did not consider himself an addict at the time of the purchase.

President Biden previously stated that he would not pardon his son in the event of a conviction. Manhattan, D.A. Alvin Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo will testify publicly before the House Judiciary Committee next month.
