And of course, perhaps inevitably, part of the conversation we're going to have today

is going to look at whether it actually matters.

And I hate that question already.

I mean, I've pointed out to you on countless occasions recently

that the Donald Trump line about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue

and not losing a single vote has been

multiplied by approximately 130,000 in the context of coronavirus. And yet here we are. People in my

profession still arguing over whether or not it will cut through, whether or not whatever

Dominic Cummings says or has already said or indeed is currently saying, will it make any

difference to anything? Will it, in other words, swing the pendulum? Will it move the needle? And I

don't know the answer to that. I probably get a little bit more downcast than most at the absolute

removal of objective truth from British politics. But here's the kicker. Nobody has done more over the last

five years to undermine the role of objective truth in British politics than the man currently

appealing for your support, Dominic Cummings. It's quite incredible. All of my cliched phrases
