Welcome to Home of the Brave. It's Friday, September 25th. I'm out south of St Louis, a long way away from the river. At this point it's the Mississippi River.

I'm on the Illinois side in a state park.

I came out. I'm out here a long way away from the river because yesterday I was in

St. Louis and when I left I was kind of confused about where to go and what to do. I was in St

Louis the same day the news came out that nobody was charged for the murder of Brianna Taylor.

It was also driving around the city a lot, trying to talk to people in black neighborhoods.

And I could feel that it was not a good time

to be driving around those neighborhoods.

And it was hard to talk to people that I would get out of the car

and if could feel this wave of alarm, go out,

try and people would walk away from me.

The neighborhoods were in shambles.

The buildings falling down, boarded up,

falling down, windows broken.

There are a lot of neighborhoods around St. Louis

that are as poor and is run down,

and, you know, scary is any place I've seen in the country.

Driving through Dutch town,

sort of in the street and as I went by one of them said to the other he's going to get shot

I think she was just

exaggerating, but I should not have maybe even tried to talk to people there because the results were not good most of the time
