On today's program, we're going to talk about the possible extradition of filmmaker

Roman Polansky, the new Fox television hit, Glee, and middle school

children out and proud. Joining me today are Slate's deputy editor Julia Turner. Hello, Julia. Hi,

Steve. And our film critic, Dana Stevens. Hey, Dana. Hey, Steve. And I should add, fan boys,

fan girls, get ready. June Thomas will be joining us later on in the show, everybody's favorite.

Well, Dana, Julia, let's start with Roman Polanski. This is, to put it mildly, a very sensitive topic.

Let's just get some of the basic facts on the table first. Palansky is a Holocaust survivor.

He's the widower of a victim of the Manson murders. He's the director of such classic films as Rosemary's

Baby, Chinatown, more recently the Oscar winning, the pianist. But he's also something else.

He's a convicted sex offender in the state of California, who prior to his sentencing, roughly 30

years ago, fled to Europe, never to return the United States. And after 30 years of never

setting foot on American, or for that matter,

even on UK soil for fear of being extradited, Polanski just last week was nabbed by authorities

in Switzerland on his way to a lifetime achievement award. This has raised questions, hackles, old

and disturbing memories. There is a documentary one can watch to get some of the background on the
