Summary

Life isn’t always easy; the Vallotton family knows that first hand. There were seasons in life that were far different than we had planned. You know the kind of seasons you question if the trials you're facing will fade or if you’ll see another day? From battling a nervous breakdown riddled with fear to being in a financial crisis and wondering if food would appear on the table the next day — our story is filled with perseverance and a deep rooted strength. I often look back on the seasons of life that were turbulent and treacherous and wonder if we’d be who we are today without them. In the midst of life’s hardest circumstances, tenacity and endurance began to fill our bones and established roots in our family. No matter the storm that came our way our home became a cornerstone of faith — we realized there was a purpose in the pain and possibility in the problems we faced. Let me be clear, I am not saying the Lord caused trials, but He definitely used them to build our character and prepare us for the call of God on our life. In this week’s episode, Kathy and I take you back to Weaverville; the key place in our life where this hope was built, stakes of faith were put in the ground, and monumental markings in our life were formed.

wife to the cast role near to the cast role didn't go so well. Yes, we did. And this week we want to just expand that and we want to tell the rest of our story and then talk about our journey. What we learn from it.

1:05.3

And again, just to plug your book, you wrote a book called The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. No, the good, the God and the ugly. That was a movie.

1:13.3

So funny. Yeah, the story of a supernatural family, which was ours. You wrote that book. Yeah, it's it's it's available wherever great books are sold, including our website.

1:25.3

So yeah, so you know, we the rest of that story is after a year we had this beautiful marriage. We talked about it last week. It was amazing. It was absolutely wonderful.

1:33.3

First year, it was paradise. It was a lot of fun. And then Kathy got pregnant. I don't know how that happened. She was like, can I want to get pregnant? I want to get pregnant.

1:43.3

So we had we did have a little debate over. We've been together for a long time. I know. But we're only married year. And you were ready. I heard you want to have kids and then you said, well, just one kid.

1:55.3

I'm like, can't have one kid. No, we have to have at least two. And so you got pregnant right away. I think we're I think you were with child by the time we're like 14 months married or something.

2:08.3

And the middle of that, I was running a shop with 13 guys and no leadership skills, which is one of the reasons why we have a passion for this. Because you know, I was throwing in the deep end of the pool. I had a boss who really he loved me and believed to me. And we're actually working for him. Both of us for seven years.

2:23.3

Yeah. But you really didn't have anybody to mentor you. And there wasn't books like there is today. No. And not only that, but my boss wasn't a good he wasn't a good manager either. So I was like, and most of the guys who work for me were older because I started managing that place when I was 18.

2:39.3

And so that all led to me having an nervous breakdown. And we were living in San Jose, which was like, we left our little house.

2:48.3

Yeah, we're a year. Oh, yeah, we didn't tell we left that little house and we bought our own house. First house. We were both. First house. We owned when I was 18.

2:58.3

And you you stuff money away. So we are stuff and all of our extra money away. We're she's really frugal. And we had enough money to put down on a house and buy our first house.

3:07.3

Yeah. I don't think anyone even had the coast sign for us. No. And we bought it was like only three or four year old house. But and it was it seemingly was a nice neighborhood.

3:17.3

But it turned out to not be the best neighborhood. Talk about that some other time. And I and then I had a nervous breakdown. So we we were in traffic all the time driving back and forth half an hour to an hour just to get to work in the morning.

3:33.3

Bumper to bumper traffic really leading a fast life. Lots of responsibility. And one night I just went to get out of the bathtub and had a panic attack.

3:43.3

I thought it was having a hard time. Yeah. You helped me out of the bathtub eight months pregnant. I think seven months pregnant.
