chilling novel, the story begins with Marion Crane, Mary Crane in the book, a secretary who embarks on a

faithful journey after stealing money from her employer.

Her aim is to end her secret situation ship with Sam Loomis to start a new life with him as his wife.

The movie in the book, Follow her as she flees town with the stolen cash. In the movie Hitchcock masterfully uses suspense

especially during the scenes of Marion driving, heightening the tension and the guilt she feels.

Block's novel delves deeper into Mary's thoughts, providing more background

and insight into her internal conflict. As a storm hits, Marion pulls off the road to the

Bates Motel in both versions.
