Today is the 12th day in the 11th month in the year of our Lord 2022.

My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Roland on Catholic Sprouts

for every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today is the memorial of St. Josephat,

bishop and martyr. He was born in the late 16th century in modern day in Ukraine, and his parents belonged to an Eastern Right church. But when he was older, St. Josephat sought unity with Rome,

and eventually he became a bishop in the Roman Catholic Church

and tried to unify the Eastern Right Church back with the Roman Catholic Church.

Of course, some people didn't like this, and so he was eventually martyred.

He knew that seeking unity would probably cost him his life, but before he died, he prayed,

I rejoice to offer my life from my holy Catholic faith, grant that I be found worthy, Lord, to shed my blood for the union and obedience to the apostolic sea.

So we ask St. Josephat to pray for us, for his courage, and that we may seek unity with God's church as well.

Let us now continue our series on the seven deadly dragons.

The last three weeks we've been discussing

the red dragon of pride named Kina Dox. We talked about how Kina Dox is a corruption of the

goodness, beauty and truth of the color red. We talked about Mary, the legendary dragon-sayer who

trains us how to slay Kina-Dox. And we talked about Mary's favorite weapon, the sword of humility.

In this final week on the red dragon, we must now talk about the armor that will protect us from this dragon's lethal fire. It is important to remind you that slaying a dragon is not a one-and-done kind of deal. Dragons are persistent and pesky creatures. And the moment you think you have them defeated and let down your armor, they can wound you badly, spiritually speaking. Dragons can't be defeated once and for all until the end of time when Jesus, who is the ultimate dragon slayer, returns and thrust them into the eternal

lair, for Jesus is truly the only one that can slay dragons. That means we must always be on our

guard, and we must always wear our spiritual

armor, and Jesus himself is the armor, St. Jerome told us. The legendary dragon-sayer named St. Paul

taught us about this spiritual armor in his great letter to Ephesians chapter 6. St. Paul loved writing
