Hey, Sprouts, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast, where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 94 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Mark, reading chapter 14, verses 43 through 52, where we will hear of Jesus' betrayal and arrest.

I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible. Before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them

the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth, amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark, chapter 14, verses 43 through 52.

Then, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the 12, arrived, accompanied by

a crowd with swords and clubs, who had come from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.

His betrayer had arranged a signal with him, saying, The man I shall kiss is the one, arrest him, and lead him away securely.

He came and immediately went over to him and said, Rabbi, and he kissed him.

At this, they lay hands on him and arrest him.

One of the bystanders drew his sword, struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his ear.

Jesus said to them, reply,

Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me?

Day after day, I was with you teaching in the temple

area, yet you did not arrest me, but that the scriptures may be fulfilled. And they all left him

and fled. Now a young man followed him wearing nothing but a linen cloth about his body.
