We are reading through the Gospels this school year, and we are on day 89 of this journey today.

We are in the Gospel of Mark, and today we are reading chapter 13,

verses 1 through 23, where Jesus will begin to talk about the end times. Now, I am reading from the New American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along, but before we start, let's pray. In the name of the

Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,

and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created,

and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark, chapter 13 verses 1 through 23. As he was making his way out of the temple area one of his disciples said to him

look teacher what stones and what buildings jesus said to him do you see these great buildings

there will not be one stone left upon another

that will not be thrown down. As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple area,

Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, tell us, when will this happen and what sign will they be when all these

things are about to come to an end? Jesus began to say to them, see that no one deceives you.

Many will come in my name saying, I am he, and they will deceive many. When you hear of wars and

reports of wars do not be alarmed. Such things must happen. But it will not yet be the end.

Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes from place to place and there will be

famines. These are the beginnings of the labor pains. Watch out for yourselves. They will hand you over to the

courts. You will be beaten in synagogues. You will be arranged before governors and kings because of me,

as a witness before them. But the gospel must first be preached to all nations. When they lead you
