We are on day 51.

We just wrapped up the Gospel of Matthew, and this week we will be introducing ourselves to the next gospel, which is the gospel of Mark.

Now, when I begin reading the gospel, which will be next week, we will be exploring a lot of the themes that we will be unpacking this week. So please join me in prayer that the Lord can prepare us well to receive the gospel of Mark. In the name of the Father

So to kick things off as we learn about the gospel of Mark, today we're going

to talk about Mark, the author. Now for centuries, this gospel, which of course was not part of a

book, but written on separate pieces of paper, memorized, copied, shared to one other group, but

we, the oldest copy that we have of Mark is still very, very old. But for centuries, this

gospel had the header according to Mark. So who is Mark? Well, Mark is actually mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles. And remember,

the Acts of the Apostles chronicles what happens after Jesus ascended back up into heaven.

We see Peter at work. We see Paul at work. And we also meet many of the disciples and missionaries that also work to spread the good

news. And one of those people that we meet is Mark. So Mark is primarily a disciple of Simon

Peter. He travels with him, and we also hear that he is his scribe. And so Peter, actually, is the primary source for Mark's

gospel, not Mark, because Mark may have known Jesus, but he certainly wasn't one of the 12
