Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast,

where we are working our way through the Gospels this school year.

Today is Day 29.

We are reading from the Gospel of Matthew, the entire chapter of chapter 16. This passage focuses a lot on Peter and his role in the church. Remember, I am reading

from the New American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along and take notes.

Also, God's Holy Word is alive and active. So let's pray that the Holy Spirit opens our hearts

to receive God's Holy Word. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew chapter 16, verses 1 through 28.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came and to test him asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

He said to them in reply, In the evening you say, tomorrow will be fair for the sky is red,

and in the morning, tomorrow will be stormy for the sky is red and threatening. You know how to judge the

appearance of the sky, but you cannot judge the signs of the time. An evil and unfaithful generation

seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah. Then he left them and went away. In coming to the other
