We are reading the Gospels in a school year,

and today is day 182 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of John.

Today we are reading chapter 13, verses 1 through where we will hear Jesus wash the feet of his followers, something that we hear every

Holy Thursday. Now, before we dive into this, though, I want you to know I'm reading from the

new American translation of the Bible, and I invite you to join me in prayer.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face

of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from

the Holy Gospel according to John chapter 13 verses 1 through 20 before the feast of Passover Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass

from this world to the father he loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end the devil had

already induced Judas son of Simon the Ascariot, to hand him over.

So during supper, fully aware that the father had put everything into his power, and that

he had come from God and was returning to God. He rose from supper and took off his outer

garments. He took a towel and took off his outer garments.

He took a towel and tied it around his waist.

Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel around his waist.
