Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 177.

We are reading the gospel of John, chapter 11, verses 1 through 44.

And in today's section, we will hear the incredible story of the raising of Lazarus.

I am reading from the new American translation of the Bible, but before we dive in, let's pray.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John, chapter 11, verses 1 through 44.

Now a man was ill, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

Mary was the one who had anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and dried his feet with her hair.

It was her brother, Lazarus, who was ill.

So the sisters sent word to him, saying,

Master, the one you love, is ill. When Jesus heard

this, he said, this illness is not to end in death, but is for the glory of God that the son of God

may be glorified through it. Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

So when he heard that he was ill, he remained for two days in the place where he was.

Then after this, he said to his disciples, let us go back to Judea.
