Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast,

where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 142.

We are reading the gospel of Luke, specifically chapter 20, verses 1 through 20.

And in this passage, we will hear Jesus tell the parable of the tenant farmers.

I'm reading from the new American translation of the Bible, but before we dive in, let's pray.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth

One day as he was teaching the people in the temple area and proclaiming the good news,

the chief priests and scribes, together with the elders, approached him and said to him,

tell us, by what authority are you doing these things?

Or who is the one who gave you this authority?

He said to them in reply, I shall ask you a question.

Tell me, was John's baptism of heavenly or human origins?

They discussed this among themselves and said, If we say of heavenly origin, he will say,
