Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 128 of this journey, reading the Gospel of Luke, today chapter 11, verses 29 through 54.

In this, we will hear many sayings from Jesus, including his teaching on light.

Now, I'm reading from the New American Translation of the Bible.

Please follow along or take notes, but first, let's pray.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit,

fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to to Luke, chapter 11, verses 29 through 54.

While still more people gathered in the crowd, he said to them, this generation is an evil

generation. It seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.

Just as Jonah became a sign to the

Ninevites, so will the son of man be to this generation. At the judgment, the queen of the

South will rise with the men of this generation, and she will condemn them, because she came from

the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon,

and there is something greater than Solomon here.

At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it,

because at the preaching of Jonah, they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.

No one who lights a lamp hides it away or places it under a bushel basket, but on a lamp

stand so that those who enter might see the light. The lamp of the body is your eye.
