Hey there, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 120 of this adventure.

We are in the gospel of Luke, today reading chapter 7 verses 36 through 50

where we will hear the story of Jesus pardoning the sinful woman. I'm reading from the new

American translation of the Bible, but before we begin, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirits and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke,

Chapter 7, verses 36 through 50. A Pharisee invited him to dine with him, and he entered the Pharisees

house and reclined at table.

Now, there was a sinful woman in the city who learned that he was at table in the house of the Pharisee.

Bring in an alabaster flask of ointment.

She stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to bathe his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with ointment. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to him, if this man were a prophet, he would know who and what sort of this woman is, who is touching

him, that she is a sinner. Jesus said to him to reply, Simon, I have something to say to you.

Tell me, teacher, he said. Two people were in debt to a certain creditor. One owed 500 days' wages, the other owed 50.

Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both.

Which of them will love him more?

Simon said in reply, the one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven.
