Hey there, welcome back to the Catholic Spouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 11 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Luke, and today we are reading chapter 3,

verses 1 through 38, where we will hear the account of Jesus' baptism. I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible, and I encourage you to follow along or take notes.

But before we start, let's pray.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

of Luke chapter 3 verses 1 through 38. In the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,

when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea,

and Herod was tetriarch of Galilee,

and his brother Philip,

tetriarch of the region of Itura and Tarchanatus,

and Licinius, was tetriarch of Abiline. During the high priesthood of

Anus and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachariah in the desert.

He went throughout the whole region of Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

as it was written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah.

A voice of one crying out in the desert, prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths,
