| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:31.3 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, February 17th, 2022. All week we have been talking about sin, |
| 0:40.5 | how sin is either a break or a wound in our relationship with God or other people, something that we do knowingly. |
| 0:45.0 | We've been looking at the story of Judas, the man who betrayed Jesus. |
| 0:50.9 | And first we saw how those little sins, how him taking a little bit of money out of the collective pouch meant to support Jesus' public ministry. |
| 1:00.0 | That led to the big sin of him being willing to be paid to betray Jesus. |
| 1:03.9 | And yesterday we saw how vulnerable Jesus is with us, |
| 1:07.9 | even knowing that we will betray him, that we will sin against him. |
| 1:13.5 | He was so vulnerable with Judas. He even welcomed him to the last supper, just as he welcomes us each Sunday to Holy Mass, even though we are sinners as well. |
| 1:20.2 | And so this brings us to the agony in the garden. As you likely know, Judas chose to betray Jesus in the middle of the night. |
| 1:31.3 | And this shows us that he was a coward, right? Not only was he a coward, but the high priests were |
| 1:36.7 | cowards. They were worried that because of all the miracles Jesus had been working in front of the |
| 1:41.4 | people, that if they arrested him in broad daylight, the people would rebel. |
| 1:46.5 | So Judas knew the Mount of Olives was where Jesus went to pray often. |
| 1:52.3 | So he left the last supper. |
| 1:54.2 | He went to go get the guards from the high priest's palace. |
| 1:57.9 | They went to the garden. |
| 2:00.3 | And they had arranged it that Judas would betray Jesus, |
| 2:03.1 | would point him out in a very specific way. Do you know how he signaled that this was Jesus? |
| 2:10.5 | Yes, with a kiss. Now, oftentimes I reflect on how this is, it's so heartbreaking, isn't it? |
| 2:19.9 | Remember, what is sin? |
| 2:22.4 | Sin is a break in the relationship between us and God. |
