| 0:56.2 | Now, this week, the first week of Advent, we are talking about why our church is timeless, |
| 1:00.9 | why it doesn't change with the times and change our core teaching. |
| 1:04.3 | The reason, of course, is because our church was founded by Jesus, |
| 1:11.3 | and the truths that inform the rules of our faith are from God. |
| 1:17.2 | So today we are going to tackle the first big ejection that many people have to Catholic teaching, and these have to do with the rules about love and marriage. |
| 1:23.4 | Now, there are many, many modern issues that fall into this big bucket. |
| 1:28.8 | We're going to talk about the fact that marriage is permanent and that you can't just |
| 1:34.5 | dissolve a marriage through a legal divorce. |
| 1:38.4 | Sacramento marriages last forever. |
| 1:41.1 | But this also applies to things like the way that we dress, whether we are married or not, |
| 1:47.0 | just valuing our bodies. And also it has to do with the care that we take to protect ourselves |
| 1:55.0 | from seeing lies or damaging things in movies and TV, things that show a warped or wrong display of what love |
| 2:07.5 | and marriage is. So first of all, to understand this, we need to go back to God's teaching on love. |
| 2:16.5 | God is love. And in many stories throughout the Bible, especially |
| 2:21.0 | through the lived life of Jesus Christ shared in the gospel, we see what love is. And that gives |
